Hi All,

I'm in the market for an adventure bike that will double as a daily commuter (needs to be LAMS approved....ah sigh).

Does anyone own or has anyone ridden a BMW G 650 GS, interested in peoples thoughts. I suspect it will do the on road stuff pretty well but not sure about the off road stuff. I'm not planning on doing to much off road with it because I've got the sherco for the harder stuff.

Cheers,

Dan

Gday Dan
I done a lot of riding with a mate that had one his was an F650GS about 2005 He loved it comparing it to my KTM640ADV the BM was  smoother and more comfortable on the road where the KTM was better off road but both were more than capable everywhere the only complaint about the BM really was the front brake was lacking a bit he also had some rear shocker problems but he wasn’t just commuting. Otherwise reliability was great
oh and FGS=#ags,¥irls and £issy’s  NOT THAT THERES ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT

Dan,

I've got one and I love it!

Spent 2 weeks and 4,000 is riding one in Iceland, then bought one when I got home.  Did 5,500 is on it earlier this year, riding to Oodnadatta (see report in Adventure Bound), with Onion, who also has one.

Very easy to ride on-road, and more than capable off-road (depending on what you want to dowith them).  Highly recommend them as an inexpensive 'adventure' bike.

Yep, as Serge said, I've got one too. Its good for an getting around town, trips away and gravel roads. It's not a trail bike, so don't expect it to handle rough tracks. Brake/clutch levers are expensive so fit Barkbusters. Chuck a bag on the bag on the back and point it at the horizon.

Yeah sounds like a plan, rode one tonight handled pretty well so think it would be a good choice but this particular one wasn't in the best condition so will have a look around.

Cheers
