Apparently they are coming with a built in gps transponder so they know where you've been and how many days its been used

Good to hear. Does that mean you're coming to Tallarook?

Very possible  ....

I dunno if you're being serious or not, Will!

Sounds like a good idea though.  I'd hate to see the system disappear because it is abused by a minority.

Just to state the obvious, did you ask if any other Vic Roads offices had plates available to issue?
The older I get, the slower I was.

Yes, she said she doubted that any other office would, but suggested I try the Customer Service line.  35 mins later, I still hadn't gotten through, so I gave up!

Ive seen lots of classic vehicles like camira's and camry's of late sporting red plates. Yes I believe just like rec reg the system gets abused by a few who may fuck it for all if allowed to continue in its current state. Lets hope common sense prevails

If the Camrys and Camiras are 1980's models, then they are 'entitled' to use Red Plates, provided they carry their log books and operate within the restrictions.

Like you, I suspect this isn't always the case!

Well, the PE175 is now red plated.  The plates are a bit different, they now have 3 numbers and 2 letters.

The VicRoads lady told me the whole system was under review (again).  Too many people using it dishonestly.  VicRoads will be advising the participating clubs soon regarding whatever changes they are contemplating.  It may be as simple as a start/stop odometer reading in the log book, which will be a bit awkward for me (us), cos our bikes get used both on trails and on private property, but that's for them to sort out.

Even on private property though, it's better to log the bike's use, because that way the rider is covered by TAC.
