What a grouse experience!

I've been wanting to take a flight in one of these old girls for a long time, and when I was given a voucher for my 50th birthday, I jumped at it! Perfect day for flying. We took off from Moorabin and headed north (at 1500 feet), over the MCG towards the Bolte bridge, where we dropped down to 1000 feet. Then tracked to St Kilda and down the coastline past Black Rock (where we dropped to 500 feet) and onto Beaumaris, before heading east back to Moorabin.

Wind in my face and sticks' tissue paper all around, what a day!

Nice pics Serge, can almost see my house in Pic 6 over Willi beach.

Now tip it upside down and fallout, that is great fun - as long as you remember the parachute.

Some Tiger Moth's have a kill switch on the outside of the fuselage - so if it gets away on a swing start you can chase it and kill the engine. Years ago at Bairnsdale a skydiver getting out of a Moth knocked the switch and killed the engine as they left the plane, so the pilot had to dead stick in for a landing, he was not too happy about that. Much better to roll over and tip them out.

The older I get, the slower I was.
