In '93 I said we'd soon have fuel-injected trail bikes and I was laughed out of the meeting by those who 'knew' better. I heard such comments as, "You're kidding, right?" "What about the weight?" "You'll need a battery, fuel pump, injector, computer, not to mention the reliability and it all has to be waterproof". What have we got now? And it's been around a while!!! The turn will come for the 2T's and when it does, they'll again be the bike to have! Meanwhile, I'll keep enjoying my '13 SE450i joy toy. My only problem so far, a failed fuel pump. Easily fixed ($40.00 on eBay) and at around150g, I now have a spare tucked under the seat so I won't be stranded if another one fails. (What's another 150g when I am 10kg+ overweight?)

On a technical note!   Are we still thinking fuel mix in the crankcase, into the transfer port or direct injection into the cylinder.

Suzuki did direct oil injection back in the '70s.  I'm no engineer, but it can't be that difficult, can it?

My Honda CRM250 and Yamaha DT200 had direct injection of the lubricating oil. Not premixed with the fuel.  Both appeared to work very well.
I was thinking more on the lines of the fuel injection, as to what point in the cycle that would occur. Just curious, if anyone has any information.

Phil most are talking direct injection  , many scooters have been running it for years ....  Its like a Mexican stand off , the japs lost interest in 2 bangers years ago and Europe is dominated by KTM and they wont do it because they don't have to because  ultimately the japs aint pushing them .

I reckon its still years off on a two stroke :(

It will happen when the new Euro emission standards come online. 2016 or 2018 i think. Sherco is ready for it.

All the euro bikes from my understanding meet the new emission standards. The two strokes come fitted with a black expansion chamber that has a cat in it that is removed at aus delivery, the box comes with a fmf etc for off road use.
