Wr250f is a great bike, but from what  the Dr is asking for,  falls short it two places. They do not like hwy use due to their small sump and catch can oil system. And they still have fairly high service intervals.  Will not get any arguement from me that they a better lighter bike than the wr250r. Shaz is still riding my wr after close to 30,000ks and one engine freshen up.

Thanks, Michael N.
The thing is I bought a Suzuki road bike and so have a relationship with the local dealer. He may [not} look after me, going forward. If I want to ride my machine anywhere then a registerable trail bike, as per the Suzuki [insert capacity here] could be the go.

I have decided that my lap might be easily limited to Victoria so rec reg is back in the mix. I have been looking at all sorts of options and I am very interested in the CRF230 Honda. Looks like a great trail bike with a bullet proof engine and ownership looks easy wrt maintenance. Plenty of Youtube video showing them doing stuff I might expect to do. I like the lowish seat height and the electric start is a bonus IMHO. And, I think the step up from the DT175 will be easy too. Thanks for pointing them out Dirtpilot.

I still wouldn't overlook the Wr250f.

I know someone who set one up as an adventure bike and has done huge  KM on it. He rode it to Perth and back.

Holbrook Muz? I think he had a WR250R for the Perth ride, not the F.
